संपन्नता का चिह्न क्या है? संपन्नता का चिह्न है मुक्ति, मुस्कान और जो कुछ भी अपने पास है उसे निर्भय होकर आसपास के लोगों के साथ बांटने की मन:स्थिति। संपन्नता का चिह्न है दृढ़ विश्वास कि जो भी मुझे चाहिए वह मुझे मिल जाएगा। 2009 का स्वागत अपनी आंतरिक मुस्कान के साथ करें। कैलंडर के पन्ने पलटने के साथ-साथ हम अपने मन के पन्नों को भी पलटते जाएं। प्राय: हमारी डायरी स्मृतियों से भरी हुई होती है। आप देखें कि आपके भविष्य के पन्ने बीती हुई घटनाओं से न भर जाएं। बीते हुए समय से कुछ सीखें, कुछ भूलें और आगे बढ़ें। आप लोभ, घृणा, द्वेष तथा ऐसे अन्य सभी दोषों से मुक्त होना चाहते हो। यदि मन इन सभी नकारात्मक भावनाओं में लिप्त है, तो वह खुश व शांत नहीं रह सकता। आप अपना जीवन आनंदपूर्वक नहीं बिता सकते। आप देखें कि नकारात्मक भावनाएं भूतकाल की वजह से हैं और आप अपने उस भूतकाल को अपने वर्तमान जीवन के नए अनुभवों को नष्ट न करने दें। भूतकाल को क्षमा कर दें। यदि आप अपने बीते हुए समय को क्षमा नहीं कर पाएंगे, तो आपका भविष्य दुख से भर जाएगा। पिछले साल, जिनके साथ आपकी अनबन रही है, इस साल आप उनके साथ सुलह कर लें। भूत को छोड़ कर नया जीवन शुरू करने का संकल्प करें। इस बार नववर्ष के आगमन पर हम इस धरती पर सभी के लिए शांति तथा संपन्नता के संकल्प के साथ लोगों को शुभकामनाएं दें। आर्थिक मंदी, आतंकवाद की छाया, बाढ़ तथा अकाल के इस समय में और अधिक नि:स्वार्थ सेवा करें। हम जानें कि इस संसार में हिंसा को रोकना ही हमारा प्राथमिक उद्देश्य है। इस विश्व को सभी प्रकार की सामाजिक तथा पारिवारिक हिंसा से मुक्त करना है। समाज के लिए और अधिक अच्छा करने का संकल्प लें। जो पीड़ित हैं उन्हें धीरज दें और समाज तथा राष्ट्र के प्रति उत्तरदायी बनें। जीवन का आध्यात्मिक पहलू हमारे भीतर संपूर्ण विश्व, संपूर्ण मानवता के प्रति और अधिक अपनेपन, उत्तरदायित्व, संवेदना तथा सेवा का भाव विकसित करता है। अपने सच्चे स्वरूप में आध्यात्मिक भावनाएँ जाति, धर्म तथा राष्ट्रीयता की संकुचित सीमाओं को तोड़ देती हैं और हमें इस सृष्टि में सर्वत्र व्याप्त जीवन के सौंदर्य से अवगत कराती हैं। इस वर्ष अपनी भक्ति को खिलने दें। उसे व्यक्त होने का अवसर दें। हमें अपने चारों ओर व्याप्त ईश्वर का, उसके प्रकाश का अनुभव करना चाहिए। आप के मन में इसे अनुभव करने की इच्छा होनी चाहिए। क्या आप में कभी यह इच्छा उत्पन्न हुई है -कि आप को श्रेष्ठतम शांति प्राप्त हो? संपूर्ण विश्व ईश्वरीय प्रकाश से व्याप्त है। जब आप गाते हैं या प्रार्थना करते हैं, तो उसमें पूर्ण तल्लीनता हो। यदि मन कहीं और उलझा हुआ है, तो सच्ची प्रार्थना नहीं हो सकती। तुम एक मुक्त पंछी के समान हो। तुम पूर्णत: मुक्त हो। अनुभव करो कि तुम एक पंछी के समान उड़ना सीख रहे हो। उड़ना सीखो। यह तुम्हें स्वयं ही अनुभव करना होगा। जब मन तनाव मुक्त होता है, तभी बुद्धि तीक्ष्ण होती है। जब मन आकांक्षाओं और इच्छाओं जैसी छोटी-छोटी चीजों से भरा होता है, तब बुद्धि तीक्ष्ण नहीं हो पाती है। और जब बुद्धि तथा ग्रहण की क्षमता तीक्ष्ण नहीं होते, तब जीवन पूर्ण रूप से अभिव्यक्त नहीं होता, नए विचार नहीं बहते। तब हमारी क्षमताएं भी धीरे-धीरे कम होने लगती हैं। बाहर निकला वह पहला कदम ही आपके जीवन की बहुत सी समस्याओं का समाधान कर देगा। इसलिए सहज रहो, प्रेम से भरे रहो। अपने आपको सेवा में लगाओ। अपने जीवन का उत्सव मनाओ।

यूपी पुलिस की कार्यशैली पर फिर सवालिया निशान लग गया है। इस बार मुजफ्फरनगर जिले की
पुलिस ने एक स्टूडंट के अपहरण और हत्या के मामले में तीन बेकसूर किशोरों को जेल भेज दिया। पुलिस के कारनामे की पोल उस समय खुली जब पुलिस फाइल में मर चुका स्टूडंट 6 महीने के बाद खुद ही घर लौट आया। मामला मानवाधिकार आयोग तक पहुंचने पर दो तत्कालीन थाना प्रभारियों के खिलाफ आपराधिक मामला दर्ज किया गया है। गांव माजरा का स्टूडंट राजन एक अप्रैल 2008 को स्कूल से घर लौटते समय लापता हो गया था। पुलिस ने इस मामले में सोनू, सुनील और रवि नाम के तीन किशोरों को गिरफ्तार किया। पुलिस ने उनके खिलाफ अपहरण और हत्या का मामला दर्ज किया। पुलिस ने बाद में उन्हें जेल भेज दिया। पुलिस की काली करतूत यहीं नहीं रुकी। उसने राजन की हत्या को साबित करने के लिए राजन की चप्पल और स्कूल बैग के साथ हत्या में इस्तेमाल किया गया चाकू भी बरामद कर डाला। इसके अलावा उसने अदालत को बताया कि सभी आरोपियों ने राजन के अपहरण और हत्या में अपना हाथ होने का बयान दिया है। पुलिस की इस पुख्ता कहानी को किसी और ने नहीं, खुद राजन ने झूठी साबित कर दिया। छह महीने से गायब राजन खुद ही अपने घर लौट आया। राजन के सामने आने और मामला मानवाधिकार आयोग पहुंचने से घबराए पुलिस प्रशासन ने तत्कालीन दो थाना प्रभारियों देवेंद बिष्ट और विनोद कुमार के खिलाफ आपराधिक मामला दर्ज कर लिया है।

KHARAR, PUNJAB: Sital Singh Bagi's life sounds like a script of a Bollywood masala flick।
The 67-year-old ex-IAF man has been fighting a nine-year legal battle to prove that he is the "real" Sital Singh Bagi and not "dead" as his family had got him declared after he fled home allegedly to escape terrorists and did not surface for a decade. A retired warrant officer of Indian Air Force (IAF), Bagi claimed he was settled with his family and owned a milk dairy in Delhi when three terrorists confronted him in December 1987 and asked him to join their group. The terrorists threatened to kill him and a terrorized Bagi left his wife and four children at his ancestral house in Gurdittpura village in Patiala and fled, he claimed. Bagi said he went to Orissa, where he spent 3-4 years, and then moved to Kolkata, before going to Dhaka in Bangladesh, where he became a priest at Gurdwara Nanak Shahi. Bagi said he returned to his native place in December 1998 as he was "no longer afraid", but his wife refused to recognize him and so did his children. They also threatened him with "dire consequences", if he again approached them, Bagi alleged. He then went to the IAF authorities for release of his pension, but was shocked when he was told that his name was struck off the pension rolls and his wife was getting the pension after she produced a court decree declaring him dead. Bagi moved a civil court in Rajpura in 1999 to get the decree declared null and void and for restoration of pension. Though the court prevented Bagi's wife from further withdrawing the family pension it reserved its order on the previous court decree pronounced in November 1996. IAF officer incharge (Pensions) Wg Cdr P.R. Sudhakar said that Bagi had "reappeared" but his pension could not be restored till a decision on the civil suit comes. In a statement filed before the court, the IAF officials had not disputed the identity of Bagi while Naseeb Kaur said that she cannot say that plaintiff is same Sital Singh with whom she got married. Though Bagi's claim was corroborated by Gurdittpura village sarpanch Mohan Singh and two other villagers in court, Bagi's wife and children have yet to conclude their evidence. Bagi's counsel Rajinder Singh Raju said the case is in advanced stage and February 15 has been fixed as next date of hearing. "We have produced documentary and physical evidence beyond any doubt to prove that Bagi is alive," Raju said. Bagi also filed a complaint before Patiala police in July 2008 against his wife and sons seeking criminal action but the police asked him to pursue his case in the court. Left with no source of income or shelter, Bagi is now being taken care of by one of his old service mates in Chamkaur Sahib, near Ropar. "I procured evidence of several of my service colleagues and native village head, but I'm still waiting for the court order," he rued. However, Naseeb says, "I got married to Sital Singh and two sons were born from our wedlock but I cannot say this man is my husband or not." "My husband disappeared in 1987. I lodged his missing report with the police and after he failed to appear, I got a police investigation report certifying that he could not be traced despite their best efforts."

मध्य प्रदेश में शिवराज सिंह चौहान कैबिनेट में शामिल नए मंत्री गौरीशंकर बिसेन ने सरकारी मशीनरी के एक लिए उदाहरण पेश किया है। उन्होंने लोकसभा की सदस्यता से इस्तीफा देने तक सरकारी कार और दूसरी सुविधाएं लेने से इनकार किया है। शपथ लेने के बाद बिसेन को सहकारिता और लोक स्वास्थ्य अभियंत्रण मंत्रालयों की जिम्मेदारी सौंपी गई। सरकारी सूत्रों कहा कि बिसेन ने इसलिए नैतिकता के आधार पर सरकारी सुविधाएं लेने से इनकार कर दिया कि वह अभी लोकसभा सदस्य हैं। बिसेन नक्सल प्रभावित बालाघाट सीट से सांसद हैं। वहीं से उन्होंने विधानसभा चुनाव भी जीता है।

राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग (एनसीडब्ल्यू) ने एंटी टेररिस्ट स्क्वैड (एटीएस) द्वारा मालेगांव ब्लास्ट मामले में आरोपी साध्वी प्रज्ञा सिंह ठाकुर के उत्पीड़न और अमानवीय बर्ताव के आरोपों को बेहद गंभीरता से लिया है। महिला आयोग ने इस मुद्दे पर महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री को चिट्ठी लिखकर सफाई मांगी है। राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग की अध्यक्ष गिरिजा व्यास ने महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री अशोक चव्हाण को लिखी चिट्ठी में एक हफ़्ते में पूरे मामले पर जवाब मांगा है। आरोप है कि 10 अक्टूबर से 23 अक्टूबर के बीच एटीएस की हिरासत में साध्वी के साथ बुरा बर्ताव किया गया। गौरतलब है कि राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग की एक सदस्य एस.चटर्जी की इसी मामले में महाराष्ट्र के डीजीपी ए.एन.राय और महाराष्ट्र के चीफ सेक्रटरी जॉनी जोसफ को चिट्ठी लिखकर 'फैक्चुअल रिपोर्ट' की मांग की थी। लेकिन एक महीने बीत जाने पर भी उसका कोई जवाब नहीं मिला। समझा जाता है कि गिरिजा व्यास ने इसके बाद ही खुद चिट्ठी लिखकर पूरे मामले में वस्तुस्थिति जाननी चाही है। इससे पहले गुजरात कमिशन फॉर विमिन और नैशनल कमिशन फॉर ह्युमन राइट्स (एनएचआरसी) ने भी महाराष्ट्र सरकार से साध्वी के खिलाफ ज़्यादातियों पर सफाई मांगी है।

' ओम शांति ओम' की डाइरेक्टर फराह खान का कहना है कि शाहरुख एक परफेक्ट ऐक्टर हैं। वह किरदार में डूबकर काम करते हैं। वह जिस तरह एक गंवई किरदार में खुद को फिट कर सकते हैं, उतनी ही आसानी से कूल डूड के रोल में भी जान डाल सकते हैं। 'जब वी मेट' फेम डाइरेक्टर इम्तियाज अली के मुताबिक शाहरुख का पॉजिटिव एटिट्यूड उन्हें दूसरों से अलग बनाता है। वह चाहे फिल्मों को लेकर हो या जिंदगी को लेकर। उनका स्टाइल हर काम में झलकता है। इसलिए लोग उन्हें साथ लेकर ही अपना बेस्ट परफॉर्मन्स देना चाहते हैं। लेकिन बॉलिवुड में शाहरुख की तरह कई दमदार ऐक्टर हैं। फिर शाहरुख की ही लगातार हिट्स क्यों? फिल्म समीक्षक का कहना है कि शाहरुख की फिल्मों में कहानी कहने का अंदाज अहम भूमिका निभाता है। उनकी हिट फिल्मों पर नजर डालें तो ज्यादातर फिल्में ट्रडिशनल होती है। उनमें ज्यादा प्रयोग नहीं होता। प्रयोग में यह रिस्क रहता है कि फिल्म हिट भी हो सकती है या पिट सकती है। उनकी फिल्में नॉस्टैलजिक भी होती हैं, वह कहानी होती है जो हम सुनना चाहते हैं, जिसके साथ दर्शक हंस सकते हैं और रो सकते हैं। शाहरुख की यह खूबी कही जा सकती है वह स्क्रिप्ट चुनने में खास ध्यान देते हैं। उनकी फिल्मों में अश्लीलता नहीं होती तो इसकी वजह यही है कि हिंदी दर्शकों की वह कभी पसंद ही नहीं रही। बॉलिवुड में जो भी मेगा हिट फिल्में रही हैं वह साफ सुथरी रही हैं। शाहरुख का मध्यवर्गीय व्यक्तित्व भी दर्शकों को लुभाता है। दर्शक खुद को उनसे जुड़ा हुआ महसूस करते हैं। उनकी बहुत हीरोइक इमिज नहीं है, जिसका फायदा उन्हें मिलता है।

विदेश मंत्री प्रणव मुखर्जी के बयानों के द्वारा सरकार पाकिस्तान को चुनौती दे रही है, Aur केंद्रीय मंत्री ए.आर. अंतुले अपने बयानों स

पाक एयरफोर्स ने सोमवार को राजधानी इस्लामाबाद समेत देश के प्रमुख शहरों पर फाइटर प्लेन उड़ाए और कहा कि उसने मौजूदा हालात को देखते हुए सतर्कता बढ़ा दी है। फाइटर प्लेन्स ने इस्लामाबाद, रावलपिंडी के नजदीक स्थित गैरीसन सिटी और अन्य शहरों के ऊपर से काफी कम ऊंचाई पर उड़ान भरी। एयर फोर्स के प्रवक्ता एयर कमोडोर हुमायूं विकार जिफायर ने कहा कि माहौल के मद्देनजर पाकिस्तानी एयर फोर्स ने सतर्कता बढ़ा दी है। एयर फोर्स की इस एक्सरसाइज से इस्लामाबाद में अफरा-तफरी मच गई। कई लोगों ने अखबारों और अन्य मीडिया संस्थानों में टेलीफोन कर दरियाफ्त की कि विमान इतनी कम ऊंचाई पर क्यों उड़ रहे हैं। एयर फोर्स की यह एक्सरसाइज भारतीय विदेश मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी के उस बयान के बाद की गई है, जिसमें उन्होंने कहा था कि मुंबई पर आतंकवादी हमलों के बाद हालात से निपटने के लिए सभी विकल्प खुले रखे गए हैं।

तालिबान ने कहा है कि भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच जंग होती है, तो वह सैकड़ों आत्मघाती हमलावर तैनात कर पाकिस्तानी सेना का साथ देगा। प्रतिबंधित तहरीक-ए-तालिबान पाकिस्तान के प्रमुख बैतुल्ला महसूद ने ' दैनिक न्यूज़ ' को एक गुमनाम जगह से फोन पर यह बात कही। उसने दावा किया कि पाकिस्तान पर अगर युद्ध थोपा गया, तो पाक सेना के साथ लड़ने के लिए उसके सैकड़ों हथियारबंद जिहादी तैयार हैं। उसने कहा कि भारतीय सेना के हमले की सूरत में सीमा की रक्षा के लिये उन्हें आत्मघाती हमले में इस्तेमाल होने वाली जैकिट तथा विस्फोटक पदार्थ से भरे वाहन दिए गए हैं। गौरतलब है कि पाकिस्तान और अमेरिकी सेना को बैतुल्ला की तलाश है। बैतुल्ला ने कहा, ' वास्तविक जिहाद का समय आ गया है। तालिबान इसी का इंतजार कर रहा है। हम अच्छी तरह जानते हैं कि दुश्मन इस एकमात्र इस्लामी परमाणु संपन्न देश को कमजोर करने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। लेकिन मुजाहिदीन अपने दुश्मनों के नापाक इरादों को विफल कर देंगे। ' यह पहला मौका है जब महसूद ने कबूला है कि तालिबान ने अफगान-पाक सीमा के पास सैकड़ों लडाकुओं को तैनात किया है।पाकिस्तानी सेनाध्यक्ष जनरल अशफाक परवेज कयानी ने देश के नेतृत्व को यह भरोसा दिया है कि अगर भारत उस पर किसी भी तरह का हमला करता है तो वह भी जवाबी कार्रवाई करने को तैयार है। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार कयानी ने सोमवार को यहां राष्ट्रपति आवास में हुई बैठक में राष्ट्रपति आसिफ अली जरदारी के साथ मुलाकात के दौरान सेना की तैयारियों के बारे में जानकारी दी। सत्ता समर्थक दैनिक द न्यूज ने कयानी के हवाले से जानकारी दी है कि सशस्त्र बल किसी भी चुनौती से निपटने के लिए पूरी तैयार हैं और देश के लिए लोग कुर्बानी को तैयार हैं। रिपोर्ट में कयानी के हवाले से यह भी कहा गया है कि पाकिस्तान भारत के हमले की सूरत में में जवाबी कार्रवाई के लिए तैयार है। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार कयानी और जरदारी की मुलाकात का सार यह था कि भारत के बढ़ते दबाव के सामने यदि कोई भी प्रयास किया गया तो वह देश के हित में नहीं होगा क्योंकि उससे भारत को पाकिस्तान पर और दबाव बढ़ाने का मौका मिलेगा। इस मुलाकात से चंद घंटे पहले पाकिस्तानी वायुसेना ने अपनी सतर्कता बढ़ाई और लड़ाकू विमानों ने इस्लामाबाद रावलपिंडी और लाहौर जैसे शहरों के ऊपर उड़ान भरी। कराची में प्रधानमंत्री युसूफ रजा गिलानी ने भी कहा कि सीमा पर किसी तरह के हमले की सूरत में देश एकजुट रहेगा।बीजेपी के सीनियर नेता लालकृष्ण आडवाणी ने कहा कि एक ओर विदेश मंत्री प्रणव मुखर्जी के बयानों के द्वारा सरकार पाकिस्तान को चुनौती दे रही है, लेकिन दूसरी ओर एक अन्य केंद्रीय मंत्री ए.आर. अंतुले अपने बयानों से पाकिस्तान को निर्दोष साबित करने में उसकी मदद कर रहे हैं। आडवाणी ने बीजेपी संसदीय दल की बैठक में यह बात कही। संसदीय दल की प्रवक्ता सुषमा स्वराज के मुताबिक, आडवाणी ने कहा कि अंतुले के बयान पर सत्ताधारी यूपीए के सहयोगियों के बीच ही मतभेद है और इससे केवल राष्ट्र विरोधी ताकतों को मदद मिल रही है। बैठक में आगामी लोकसभा चुनावों की तैयारियों का भी जायजा लिया गया और उसके लिए आधुनिक टेक्नॉलजी के इस्तेमाल पर बल दिया गया।

A day after digging in his heels by reiterating the insinuation about the hand of Hindu radicals in the killing of Hemant Karkare, Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad chief, AR Antulay dismissed party leadership's threat of marching order as Union minister as insignificant in an eventful career, deepening the party dilemma on the possible way out of the controversy. After a brainstorming on Saturday, the Congress core group, which includes the leadership and the troubleshooters, was clueless on how the party could stamp its authority in the Antulay controversy. Antulay, who had conveyed his refusal to retract his remarks on Karkare's killing to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in private, went public with his defiance on Saturday. Addressing a gathering of Waqf administrators, Antulay asserted that he was only afraid of God and none else. While he said this in a different context, it was seen in the party leadership as amplifying his refusal to take back the remarks which many in Pakistan have gleefully seized upon to counter India's foolproof case against the involvement of ISI-supported Lashkar-e-Taiba in the Mumbai attacks. Considering that the government has promised Parliament that it would spell out its stand before the current session ends on Tuesday, the next 48 hours are going to be agonizing for a Congress leadership having to balance fear of an adverse fallout among Muslims of a punitive action against Antulay, with the risk of loss of India's credibility internationally and erosion of its own authority. The public belligerence put paid to any hope of Congress leadership that the Maharashtra veteran would yield, helping the party come out of the bind it has been pushed into by the minority affairs minister. Any backtracking by Antulay would have undermined his credibility, leaving the leadership to take action against him without having to worry about the political consequences. But with Antulay not concerned about the sack order, the party is hamstrung by the political costs of a punitive action in the face of a chord the minority affairs minister has struck with the Muslim community. The leadership is also coming under pressure from different sections within, who feel that Congress can reinforce its "secular" credentials by going soft on Antulay, given Karkare's role in exposing the alleged role of Hindutva radicals in the Malegaon blasts of September. The view came out when AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh told reporters in Varanasi that Antulay had done no wrong in "asking for a probe which is already underway". Digvijay Singh's statement, dubbed by leadership as "personal", comes only a day after Antulay presided over an across-the-partyline "secular" mobilisation in his favour in Parliament. Even junior home minister Shakeel Ahmed questioned the argument that Antulay had given a propaganda point to Pakistan. He retorted, "It should be probed if his statement was harmful for the country or the distortion by the media." Given the Muslim dimension and Lok Sabha polls, Congress may be left to work in isolation from Antulay, who was rehabilitated three years ago after a long exile following corruption charges to head the freshly-carved out Union minority affairs ministry. If no retraction or modification comes, the government may simply assert in Parliament that the Mumbai attacks were authored-executed by Pakistani fidayeens, who also killed Karkare, and there was no need for an inquiry. The fate of Minority affairs Minister A R Antulay continued to hang in balance as Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday grappled with the mess arising out of his controversial remarks on the killing of Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare. The meeting to resolve the situation caused by his remarks raising questions over the circumstances surrounding the killing of Karkare by Pakistani terrorists in Mumbai ended without a decision and the government's position is expected to be made clear in Parliament before it winds up business for the session on December 23. The hour-long meeting of the Congress Core Group at the residence of the Prime Minister is believed to have gone into the pros and cons of the matter but there was no official word on whether his resignation was being accepted. Opposition BJP and Shiv Sena having been gunning for Antulay's removal from the Cabinet accusing him of compromising the country's position vis a vis terrorism emanating from Pakistani soil. "No decision has been taken. The position will be made clear in the session of Parliament concluding on December 23," said a senior leader who declined to be identified. Meanwhile, Antulay, who has resigned in the wake of a political storm over his remarks and the opposition demand for his removal from the Union Cabinet, received rare support from his party when AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh saw nothing "objectionable" in the minister's statement. "Antulay has been misreported. What he has asked for is a probe which is already on. What is objectionable in his statement," Singh told reporters in Varanasi. The Congress, however, had in the last two days distanced itself from Antulay's remarks saying they were his personal views. Singh said the BJP, VHP and RSS had raised doubts about the integrity of Karkare because he was investigating the Malegaon blasts in which Hindus were arrested. Against this backdrop, Karkare was killed in the terrorist attack in Mumbai and it was "natural" to think that whether he was murdered. "But this possibility appears to be low because the course of events minimises it. Antulay has said the matter should be investigated that who ordered him (Karkare) to go there. What is objectionable in that," Singh said. Two Muslim MPs from Uttar Pradesh — Ilyas Azmi of BSP and Rasheed Masood of Samajwadi Party —backed Antulay's demand for a probe into Karkare's and wondered why a hue and cry has been raised over that demand.

राज्य के मुख्यमंत्री दिगंबर कामत ने पत्रकारों से बातचीत में कहा कि हमने फैसला किया है कि 23 दिसंबर से 5 जनवरी के बीच समुद्र तट पर पार्टी के आयोजन की अनुमति नहीं दी जाएगी। कामत ने कहा कि अधिकारी प्रतिदिन गोवा की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था की समीक्षा कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि सुरक्षा की समीक्षा को लेकर हुई एक हाई लेवल मीटिंग के बाद घर से बाहर पार्टी के आयोजन पर रोक लगाई गई है। शनिवार सुबह हुई बैठक में कामत के अलावा चीफ सेक्रटरी जे. पी. सिंह और गृह मंत्री रवि नाइक भी मौजूद थे। हालांकि, नाइक ने कहा कि होटलों में पार्टी के आयोजन पर रोक नहीं लगाई गई है। पारंपरिक उत्सव बिना किसी रोक-टोक के चलते रहेंगे।

राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के प्रमुख के. सी. सुदर्शन का कहना है कि अंग्रेजी माध्यम से दी जा रही शिक्षा के कारण देश के बच्चों में गुलाम मानसिकता पनप रही है। पटना में आयोजित एक समारोह में सुदर्शन ने कहा कि हम अपने बच्चों को अंग्रेजी शिक्षा देकर न केवल उनका उत्पीड़न कर रहे हैं, बल्कि उनमें गुलाम मानसिकता भी पैदा कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि आजादी के 61 सालों के बाद भी देश के शिक्षा तंत्र में परिवर्तन ना किया जाना दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है। संघ प्रमुख ने कहा कि अगर पाकिस्तान के बातचीत किसी नतीजे पर नहीं पहुंचे, तो उसके साथ राजनीतिक संबंध समाप्त कर लेने चाहिए।

Unfazed by the controversy triggered by his remarks on the killing of former ATS chief Hemant Karkare, Minority Affairs Minister A R Antulay today said that he stuck to his stand and that both government and Congress should feel "proud" of his comments. "I always stand by the truth," said Antulay, who has sent his resignation to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in the wake of the uproar after he raised questions on Karkare's killing. Asked whether he stood by what he had said two days back, he replied in the affirmative. He had said, "Whether Karkare was a victim of terrorism or terrorism plus something, I do not know..." "I said a man like Karkare is born among millions... Who pushed him in the trap of death? Who sent him there to be killed by the Pakistanis?" was Antulay's refrain. Arguing that Congress had no reason to be embarrassed by whatever he had said, Antulay said, "Both the government and the party should feel proud." He refused to confirm nor deny whether he sent his resignation to the Prime Minister. Asked whether he had been asked to resign, he said, "Does a person like Antulay need to be told to resign?" On being pestered to confirm his resignation, Antulay said, "... I am a self respected person...Forget the resignation. That is a very simple thing. I had resigned from Chief Ministership of Maharashtra...when 100% Congress MLAs were with me." To another query whether the party has sought any clarification from him, he said, "Clarification is sought when anything is hidden." Justifying his earlier demand for including riots under the purview of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Antulay said, "On the issue of federal agency, I said what was in the hearts of millions of Indians... I have told the truth." "Nobody spoke. But I did. I said so because it has been found that a number of things are pushed under the carpet in the name of state subject. Federal agency is being made... I said it at an opportune moment as a reminder of duty," he argued. He also refused to accept the opposition's charge that Pakistan can use his remarks on the circumstances surrounding Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare's killing and questioned, "How do you say that Pakistan can use this thing?" Further clarifying his earlier remarks, Antulay said, "Karkare and two other police officers were definitely killed by the Pakistani terrorists. Even a fool knows this. महाराष्ट्र में ऐंटी टेररिस्ट स्क्वॉड (एटीएस) के प्रमुख हेमंत करकरे के मारे जाने के मामले में विवादास्पद बयान देने वाले केंद्रीय मंत्री अब्दुर रहमान अंतुले ने प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह को अपना इस्तीफा भेज दिया है। उच्च पदस्थ सूत्रों ने शुक्रवार को बताया कि अंतुले ने अपना त्यागपत्र बुधवार की रात को प्रधानमंत्री के पास भेज दिया। हालांकि इस बारे में अंतुले की ओर से पुष्टि नहीं की गई है और न ही खबर का खंडन किया गया है। गौरतलब है कि अल्पसंख्यक मामलों के मंत्री 79 वर्षीय अंतुले की टिप्पणी की संसद के अंदर और बाहर काफी आलोचना की गई थी। विपक्षी दलों ने उनके इस्तीफे की मांग की थी। अंतुले ने गुरुवार को कहा था कि उन्होंने अपने बयान पर किसी को कोई स्पष्टीकरण नहीं दिया है। न तो उन्होंने कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी या प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह से मुलाकात की है और न ही उन्हें लिखित में कुछ दिया है। केंद्रीय मंत्री अंतुले ने 26 नवम्बर की रात मुम्बई के शिवाजी टर्मिनल रेलवे स्टेशन पर एटीएस के प्रमुख करकरे के मारे जाने के मामले में शक जाहिर किया था। उन्होंने करकरे की मौत को मालेगांव बमकांड मामले की जांच से जोड़कर देखा था। इस मामले में साध्वी प्रज्ञा ठाकुर और लेफ्टिनंट कर्नल श्रीकांत पुरोहित अभियुक्त हैं। उन्होंने करकरे को निशाना बनाए जाने का संकेत दिया था। बाद में उन्होंने यह कहकर मामले को सुलझाने की कोशिश की थी कि वह करकरे की आतंकवादियों द्वारा हत्या किए जाने के तथ्य पर सवाल नहीं उठा रहे हैं। मुख्य विपक्षी दल बीजेपी के साथ-साथ शिवसेना ने अंतुले के इस्तीफे की मांग करते हुए कहा था कि इस बयान से मुम्बई में पाकिस्तानी आतंकवादियों द्वारा हमला किए जाने का भारत का दावा कमजोर होगा।

कि अब वह नहीं रहे, वहीं अलवर के एक पुजारी परिवार को उन्हीं घायलों की तस्वीर देखकर यह पता लगा कि पांच साल पहले घर से गायब हुआ उनका बेटा आज भी जिंदा है और मुंबई में है। अलवर के एक मंदिर में पुजारी भुवनेश्वर शर्मा के मुताबिक उनकी छठी औलाद तरुण पढ़ने में काफी कमजोर था। एसएससी की परीक्षा में फेल भी हो गया था। वह उनका पुश्तैनी पेशा भी नहीं अपनाना चाहता था। वह तो रुपहले पर्दे पर छा जाने के सपने देखता था। संभवत: इन्हीं सपनों को पूरा करने के लिए वह 2003 घर से यकायक गायब हो गया। उसे खोजने के सभी प्रयास किए गए, पर उसका कहीं कोई अता-पता नहीं लगा। उसने भी कभी अपनी कोई खैर-खबर नहीं दी। इधर हाल में मुंबई कांड में घायल लोगों की कुछ तस्वीरें एक स्थानीय अखबार में छपीं। इसमें एक युवक घायलों की मदद करते हुए नजर आ रहा था। उन तस्वीरों को देखने के दौरान भुवनेश्वर को ऐसा लगा जैसे सीएसटी के पास घायल की मदद कर रहे जिस युवक की तस्वीर छपी है वह उनका अपना बेटा तरुण ही है। परिवार के अन्य लोगों को भी यही लगा। उम्मीद की डोर से बंधे पिता मुंबई पहुंचे। फोटोग्राफर की मदद से सीएसटी, फोर्ट और चर्चगेट इलाकों की खाक छानी। हाथ में अखबार की प्रति लिए हर किसी को वह तस्वीर दिखाकर यह पूछते रहे कि उन्होंने इस लड़के को कहीं देखा है? बेटे के बिछोह और उसके लिए फिक्रमंद पिता की उम्मीदें अब इकलौती उस सूचना पर टिकी हैं जो उन्हें जेजे अस्पताल पहुंचने पर किसी ने दी थी। किसी ने बताया कि तस्वीर में जो एक और घायल दिखाई दे रहा है वह भायंदर का संजय यादव है जो सीएसटी में हुई फायरिंग में घायल हुआ था। हो सकता है तरुण उसी के साथ रहता हो और संजय यादव उसके बारे में कुछ बता सके।

A day after there was an uproar in Lok Sabha after minority affairs minister, A R Antulay triggered off a new controversy by questioning the killing of ATS chief, Hemant Karkare, during the Mumbai terror siege, sources have said the Congress will seek explanation from the union minister. The Congress Parliamentary Party meet ended in the Capital a short while ago with the party and its high command taking notice of Antulay’s comments. Congress sources have said that Antulay's comment is taken as a breach of the party line and he could face action according to TV channel Times Now. Meanwhile, Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan has said there will be no probe into Hemant Karkare’s death. “We stand by the police report on the Karkare’s death,” he said. On Wednesday, the minority affairs minister set off a major political row by demanding a probe into the shooting of Mumbai ATS chief Hemant Karkare in the 26/11 terror strikes which he linked to investigations into the alleged involvement of Hindu radicals in the Malegaon blast case. Stating that the circumstances of Karkare's shooting "may be inquired into", Antulay seemed to have borrowed a leaf from Pakistani TV hosts who have claimed that the Mumbai attacks were the handiwork of "Hindu-Zionists". Antulay told the media outside Parliament's gate number 12 that "there must have been some reason why Karkare went to Cama hospital instead of Taj and Oberoi hotels." Antulay said "someone" could have told Karkare and other officers with him to go to Cama hospital, suggesting that the ATS chief fell victim to a set-up as he was probing cases which involved Hindu radicals in the Malegaon case. The comments were immediately televised and triggered an uproar in Lok Sabha where BJP and Shiv Sena MPs vehemently criticised the minister who insisted that directions issued to the officer must be probed. A red-faced Congress swiftly dissociated itself from the minister with party spokesperson Abhisekh Singhvi saying, "We don't accept the inference and the innuendo that underline the statement (of Antulay)...we don't agree with bringing this case (Karkare's killing) under a cloud." But Antulay was unfazed, virtually daring the Congress to sack him and offering to "explain" the geography of south Mumbai to his party. Reacting to the controversy, BJP condemned Antulay's statement and said the minister was as good as playing ISI's attorney and demanded his sacking. BJP leader Arun Jaitley said Pakistan could now quote Antulay to contest the account of the lone surviving Mumbai terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab. "Having made such a preposterous statement, Antulay cannot be allowed to remain in government even for a day," he said. On Wednesday afternoon, Antulay added to this script, telling TV cameras that apart from terrorism, the laws should also emcompass communal riots. "Those who riot are also terrorists," he claimed, seeking to provide what he felt was a sense of "equivalence" to the government's actions. But soon after, perhaps dissatisfied by his efforts, Antulay reappeared to claim he suspected foul play in the shooting of Karkare. The "Karkare conspiracy" has been articulated by some Urdu newspapers and clerics like the Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid. This is despite the exhaustive account of Ajmal Kasab, who along with slain terrorist Ismail, shot Karkare, additional commissioner Ashok Kamte and encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar. Also, a Mumbai police constable Jadhav, who actually survived the shooting by lying at the back of the qualis commandeered by Kasab and Ismail has given his account of the shooting as well. Antulay's blatant attempt to politicise the death of the Mumbai ATS chief at a time when the government was moving harder anti-terror laws may well have sounded the deathknell to the post 26/11 bipartisanship in fighting terrorism. It also places Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in an awkard position. If Antulay continues as a minister without a full retraction, it would mean allowing the minister to undermine the government on the Mumbai attacks. Antulay's controversial comments provided fodder for an enraged Opposition. While Shiv Sena's Anant Geete drew Lok Sabha's attention to Antulay's words, triggering a spat with treasury benches, the minister sought to present a defence by saying he had only questioned who had sent the top cops in the direction of Cama hospital when bigger attacks were happening at Taj and Oberoi. He was cut short by Geete that his statement was more categorical and was on TV.

NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Tuesday recommended a probe by the home ministry into the role of three persons who were named in the alleged 'cash-for-votes' scam that rocked Parliament during the Confidence Motion in July. The Speaker referred to the Home Ministry the matter related to Sanjeev Saxena, alleged aide of Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, Sudheendra Kulkarni, a close aide of senior BJP leader L K Advani, and Suhail Hindustani, a day after the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee said that there was need for further investigation into the roles played by them. In its report submitted in Lok Sabha on Monday, the Inquiry Committee, headed by V Kishore Chandra Deo, had given a clean chit to Amar Singh and Ahmed Patel, political adviser to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, saying the "material on record does not conclusively prove" that they had sent money to three BJP MPs for the "purpose of winning" them over for the Confidence Motion. "The Committee has, however, found the evidence given before the Committee by three persons involved in this episode as unconvincing and the Committee have suggested that their role in the matter needs to be investigated by investigating agencies," Chatterjee noted in the House today. "I am, accordingly, referring the matter pertaining to the said three persons to the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs for appropriate action in the light of the recommendations of the Committee," the Speaker said.

A history of riot, and the threat from organizations like the Bajrang Dal are sewn into wild conspiracy theories by ‘leaders’ of the community to shape minds on the eve of an election. I could not believe some of what I heard after the terrorist attacks in Mumbai. One was utterly aghast to hear, during a public gathering of some very worthy persons, the suggestion that we could not be sure that the terrorists had come from Pakistan. It was an appalling exercise in denial by mindsets that had either been unhinged or had turned utterly manipulative. For secular politicians, the Muslim vote comes at an easy exchange rate. Other communities demand rice and roads. The Muslim needs nothing more than the old ploy used to help children go to sleep: stories of ghosts and monsters at the door. When the community wakes up after sleepwalking to the polling booth, and demands legitimate needs like jobs for the young and health clinics for women, the politicians offer a large shoulder on which they can weep. No other segment of the Indian electorate can be appeased by a sob story. Politicians will always maximize the spread of assets at their disposal in the search for an extra vote; why should they waste economic benefits on a voter who will sway to the whine of emotions rather than take a cold count of schools and sanitation? There is now a disconnect between Muslims and the benefits of democracy, a break engineered by community opinion-makers who get rewarded for such services with little dollops that wind up into their personal assets. Fear used to be a factor with some other communities as well, particularly Dalits and tribals. Humiliation and exploitation were a constant of their experience. But they have moved on, either by asserting themselves through their own political formations or by maximizing the price of their support where parties like the BSP or Jharkhand Mukti Morcha do not exist. The sharpest player of this intelligent game is Mayawati. The results are evident. There is a good study waiting to be done comparing the employment levels, educational services and municipal services in Dalit residential areas and Muslim areas between 1947 and 2007. Even without empirical data I can assert that there is a sharp improvement in the former and stagnation if not decline in the latter. The Dalit has punished neglect. The tribal has learnt to vote on the sensible planks of development and security: he knows that he cannot eat rice, at whatever price it is offered, unless he is alive. The Muslim has crawled repeatedly back into the sterile womb of fear. That womb will deliver nothing. The midwives of this vote fatten on fees collected by periodic declarations of false pregnancy. Only one state is an exception: Kerala. Untroubled by the guilt of Partition, the Malayali Muslim can rally around the banner of an All-India Muslim League, which is a bit of a misnomer. It is not an all-Indian organization; it is a local Muslim party. The Kerala Muslim, with sufficient self-assurance to meet political and economic challenges, has always behaved like an equal, which is why he is treated like one. He has prised out the benefits of progress through the pressure points of a democratic polity. There could have been a similar story in Bengal, because the Marxists are committed to both secularism and progress for the underprivileged. They were the first to empower Bengali Muslims, through land reforms inspired by three authentic Marxist heroes, Promode Dasgupta, Harekrishna Konar and Jyoti Basu. That won them the loyalty of the rural vote. But two fallow decades are forcing a shift in Muslim sentiment; it is not ready to be taken for granted any longer. The Bengal CPM is in a bit of a bind, perhaps because it is not cynical enough to exploit the politics of fear with the dexterity displayed by other parties anxious for the Muslim vote. One senses the first stir of change in Bihar, where Nitish Kumar has begun to include Muslims within his development-based governance. The pace may not overly perturb a snail, but at least a process has started. But if the voter does not honour this start with support, then it will be back to fulmination and hot air. Fear locks and freezes the mind. A closed mind can never liberate a community from poverty.

मुंबई में 26 नवंबर को हुए आतंकवादी हमलों के दौरान गिरफ्तार किए गए आतंकवादी मोहम्मद अजमल आमिर ईमान उर्फ कसब के साथी इस्माइल खान ने कामा अस्पताल में तीन पुलिस अधिकारियों को मारा था। यह बात पुलिस द्वारा दर्ज किए गए अजमल के बयान में सामने आई है। अजमल ने कहा कि अस्पताल में उसके हाथ में गोली लग जाने के बाद इस्माइल खान ने एटीएस प्रमुख हेमंत करकरे, एसीपी अशोक काम्टे और एनकाउंटर विजय सालस्कर को गोली मारी थी। अजमल के मुताबिक सीएसटी में लोगों को बंधक बनाने की साजिश में नाकाम रहने के बाद वे आगे बढ़ गए और कामा अस्पताल में घुस गए। दोनों ने जब अस्पताल से बाहर निकलने का फैसला किया तो उन्होंने एक पुलिस की गाड़ी को देखा। अजमल ने कहा कि कुछ समय बाद एक और गाड़ी हमारे पास से गुजरी और कुछ ही दूरी पर रुक गई। अजमल ने कहा कि इन दोनों वाहनों में से किसी एक में करकरे, काम्टे और सालस्कर अस्पताल पहुंचे थे। उसने कहा कि पुलिस अधिकारी गाड़ी से उतरा और हम पर गोलीबारी शुरू कर दी। एक गोली मेरे हाथ में लगी और मेरी एके-47 मेरे हाथ से गिर गई। जब मैं इसे उठाने के लिए झुका तो एक और गोली मेरे इसी हाथ पर आकर लगी। कसब ने बताया कि इस्माइल ने गाड़ी में बैठे अधिकारियों पर गोलियां बरसा दीं। वे घायल हो गए और उनकी तरफ से गोलीबारी रुक गई। हम कुछ देर इंतजार करने के बाद गाड़ी की ओर गए। अजमल का कहना था कि गाड़ी में तीन शव थे। इस्माइल ने शवों को निकाला और गाड़ी लेकर चल पड़ा।

पाकिस्तानी अखबार ' द डॉन ' में छपी खबर के मुताबिक मुंबई आतंकी हमले में जिंदा पकड़े गए आतंकी अजमल कसब के पिता ने उसे पहचान लिया है। उनका कहना है कि उनके ' दुश्मनों ' ने अजमल को परिवार से अलग कर दिया। फरीदकोट के ओकारा गांव में रहने वाले अधेड़ उम्र के आमिर कसब ने कहा, ' यह सच है, मैंने उसकी तस्वीर अखबार में देखी है। यह मेरा बेटा अजमल है। ' द डॉन की रिपोर्ट के मुताबित, यह बताते वक्त आमिर कसब रोने लगा। आमिर कसब ने कहा, ' शुरुआत में कुछ दिनों तक तो मैं इस बात को मानने से इनकार करता रहा कि मुंबई में पकड़ा गया शख्स मेरा बेटा है। लेकिन अब मैंने इस बात को स्वीकार कर लिया है। भाग्य ने मुझे और मेरे परिवार के साथ गंदा मजाक किया है। ' हालांकि आमिर कसब ने यह नहीं बताया कि वह किसे ' दुश्मन ' कह रहा है लेकिन जाहिर तौर पर उसका इशारा लश्कर-ए-तैयबा की ओर था जो इस इलाके से बड़ी संख्या में नए लड़कों की भर्ती करता है। सड़क पर पकौड़े बेचने वाले आमिर कसब के तीन बेटे और दो बेटियां हैं। आमिर ने बताया कि अजमल चार साल पहले घर से चला गया था। बकौल आमिर, ' उसने ईद पर नए कपड़ों की मांग की थी लेकिन मैं इसे पूरा नहीं कर पाया। वह नाराज होकर चला गया। ' जब आमिर कसब से पूछा गया कि कि उसने इतने दिनों तक अपने खोए हुए बेटे को खोजने की कोशिश क्यों नहीं की तो अपने ठेले की ओर इशारा करते हुए उसका जवाब था कि , ' इन साधनों में मुझसे जो हो सका, मैंने किया। मैं लाहौर में यही काम करता था और बाद में वापस गांव लौट आया।' आमिर कसब का सबसे बड़ा बेटा अफजल खेतों में मजदूरी करता है। जब आमिर से यह बताया गया कि अजमल को आतंक की दुनिया में ले जाने वालों ने कथित तौर पर उसके परिवार को डेढ़ लाख रुपये देने की बात कही है तो वह भड़क गया और बोला, 'मैं अपने बेटों का सौदा नहीं करता।'

घाट उतार दिया , तो पूरा देश आतंक के खिलाफ एक साथ खड़ा दिखा। इस हमले को लेकर देशवासियों के भीतर भारी गुस्सा था। सरकार ने लोगों की नाराजगी कम करने के मकसद से गृह मंत्री शिवराज पाटिल और महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री विलासराव देशमुख को हटा दिया। पर क्या इतनी कार्रवाई सही है ? क्या इससे फिर आतंकी हमले नहीं होंगे ? आगे से इस तरह की घटनाएं नहीं हों इसके लिए क्या किए जाने चाहिए ? इन्हीं तरह के तमाम सवालों पर लोगों की राय जनाने के लिए टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया ने सर्वे करवाया। यह सर्वे मुंबई , दिल्ली , कोलकाता , चेन्नै , बेंगलुरु , हैदराबाद , अहमदाबाद , पुणे , लखनऊ और जयपुर में किया गया। सर्वे में शामिल सभी लोग 16 से 45 साल के बीच की उम्र के थे। जब लोगों के सामने यह सवाल रखा गया कि इसके लिए कौन दोषी है , तो 43 फीसदी लोगों ने इसके लिए प्रधानमंत्री को दोषी माना। लोगों का मानना था कि पीएम को इसकी कीमत चुकानी चाहिए। मुंबई में हुए इस जिहादी हमले में पाक सरकार के हाथ होने के सवाल पर 88 फीसदी लोगों ने कहा , हां इसमें पाक सरकार का हाथ है , जबकि अन्य का मानना था कि पाक सरकार इन हमलों से अनभिज्ञ है। जब लोगों से यह सवाल पूछा गया कि बांग्लादेश और पाकिस्तान में चल रहे टेरर ट्रेनिंग कैंपों को नेस्तनाबूद कर दिया जाना चाहिए। इस पर 69 फीसदी लोगों ने हामी भरी , जबकि 26 फीसदी ने इससे इनकार किया। सर्वे में शामिल 73 फीसदी का मानना है कि मुंबई हमले के बाद पाकिस्तान के साथ हमें सारे सामाजिक और व्यावसायिक संबंध खत्म कर लेने चाहिए , जबकि 25 फीसदी लोग इसके खिलाफ हैं। होम मिनिस्टर के सवाल पर 60 फीसदी लोगों का कहना है कि चिदंबरम पाटिल से बेहतर हैं , जबकि 26 फीसदी लोग इससे समहत नहीं हैं। 14 फीसदी लोग इस सवाल पर मौन थे। सर्वे में खुलासा हुआ कि 60 फीसदी शहरी मानते हैं कि भारत विकसित देशों , खासकर अमेरिका की मुसलमान देशों के प्रति नीतियों का खमियाजा भुगत रहा है। हालांकि , हर शहर में लोग इस बात से पूरी तरह इत्तिफाक नहीं रखते। लेकिन जब लोगों के सामने यह सवाल रखा गया कि क्या कोई दूसरी सरकार इसे और बेहतर तरीके से निपटती , तो इस पर 64 फीसदी लोग अहसमत दिखे , जबकि 33 फीसदी लोगों का मानना था कि दूसरी सरकार इसको कारगर तरीके निपटती। क्या डिफेंस बजट में कटौती कर आतंरिक सुरक्षा के लिए और अधिक धन मुहैया कराया जाना चाहिए ? इस पर 56 फीसदी ने कहा हां , जबकि 42 फीसदी इसके खिलाफ थे और 2 फीसदी कुछ कह पाने की स्थिति में नहीं थे। सर्वे में 77 फीसदी ने माना कि आतंरिक सुरक्षा को पूरी तरह से सेना या किसी फेडरल एजंसी को सौंप देना चाहिए। जबकि , 18 फीसदी इसके खिलाफ थे। सर्वे का सबसे अहम सवाल कि क्या कश्मीर के लिए हमें पूरे देश की शांति को दांव पर लगाना पड़ रहा है ? इस पर 76 फीसदी लोगों ने कहा कि नहीं , जबकि 24 फीसदी लोगों ने हामी भरी। इस सवाल पर 1 फीसदी लोग मौन थे

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Saturday suspended Maharashtra leader Narayan Rane, a day after his outburst against the party president Sonia Gandhi and a number of others when he lost the chief ministerial race. "It has been observed that after the announcement of the new leader of the CLP in Maharashtra, Narayan Rane is making public statements deliberately with a view to lowering the prestige of the Indian National Congress," said AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi. "The party has taken a serious view of his utterances and considering this as a case of gross indiscipline, Narayan Rane has been suspended from the party with immediate effect," he said in a statement hours before Rane was scheduled to hold a press conference in Mumbai on Saturday. Rane, who was overlooked by the party high command in favour Ashok Chavan for chief ministership, had attacked the Congress leadership on Friday accusing it of reneging on a promise to make him the chief minister. "I don't trust even Sonia Gandhi anymore", he said which party sources said was the trigger for his suspension. Rane, a leader from the Konkan area who had left Shiv Sena three years ago, had attacked not only Deshmukh but also Ashok Chavan and some central leaders and accused them of conspiring and ignoring his claim for the top job in the state

न्यू यॉर्क: मुंबई हमलों की साजिश को अंजाम देने के लिए लश्कर-ए-तैबा का एक बड़ा आतंकवादी तीन महीने से कराची में था। न्यू यॉर्क टाइम्स ने लश्कर के संपर्क में रहे एक पाकिस्तानी अधिकारी के हवाले से यह रिपोर्ट दी है। रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, लश्कर-ए-तैबा का कमांडर जकी-उर-रहमान लखवी साजिश रचने में आतंकवादियों की मदद कर रहा था। अधिकारी के हवाले से कहा गया है कि हमलावर पाकिस्तान में बैठे अपने आकाओं के संपर्क में थे। रिपोर्ट में 5 आतंकवादियों के फरार हो जाने की आशंका जताई गई है। गौरतलब है कि जिस ट्रॉलर को आतंकवादियों ने हाईजैक किया था, उसमें 10 लोगों के लिए नहीं बल्कि 15 लोगों के लिए जरूरी सामान था। रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि हमलावरों ने सैटलाइट फोन से कई सबूत छोड़े हैं। यह फोन आतंकवादियों द्वारा हाईजैक किए गए फिशिंग ट्रॉलर में पड़ा मिला था। इसमें लश्कर आतंकवादी यूसुफ मुजम्मिल का टेलिफोन नंबर भी है। यूसुफ को मुंबई हमले का मास्टरमाइंड माना जा रहा है। लंदन के एशिया-पैसिफिक फाउंडेशन के दो सुरक्षा विश्लेषकों एम. जे. गोहल और सज्जन एम. गोहल ने इस रिपोर्ट को तैयार किया है। सैटलाइट फोन से मुजम्मिल का नंबर और ताज और ओबेरॉय होटलों से मिले सेल फोनों से डायल नंबर एक हैं। ट्रॉलर से मिले सबूतों के आधार पर आशंका है कि हमले के पीछे 5 और आतंकवादी हो सकते हैं। होटलों में आतंकवादियों ने कई विदेशियों से यह पूछा कि वह किस जाति के हैं और कौन से देश से आए हैं? माना जा रहा है कि यह ब्यौरा लेने के बाद हमलावरों ने मुजम्मिल को फोन किया। इसकी पुष्टि गिरफ्तार हुए इकलौते आतंकवादी ने भी की है। होटल से बाहर आए विदेशियों ने बताया कि हमारी पहचान पूछने के बाद आतंकवादियों ने फोन पर पूछा कि इन्हें जिंदा छोड़ना है या मारना है? एक विदेशी का कहना है कि यह कॉन्फ्रंस कॉल लग रही थी और दूसरी ओर दो लोग थे। फोन रखने के बाद आतंकवादियों ने विदेशियों को छोटे-छोटे ग्रुपों में बांट दिया। तभी पुलिस ने आंसू गैस छोड़ी और बंधक भागने में सफल रहे। न्यू यॉर्क टाइम्स की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, ओबेरॉय होटल में आतंकवादियों ने सिंगापुर की एक बंधक लो वेई येन से कहा कि वह सिंगापुर में अपने पति से बात करें। आतंकवादी चाहते थे कि सिंगापुर के अधिकारी भारत से कहें कि बचाव अभियान न चलाया जाए। अगले दिन लो को मार दिया गया।

विश्व के रक्षा विशेषज्ञों का मानना है कि मुंबई पर आतंकवादी हमले के पीछे आईएसआई का हाथ है और भारत पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ जंग का ऐलान करे या न करे, किसी न किसी रूप में सैनिक कार्रवाई जरूर करेगा। सामरिक विशेषज्ञों ने अपनी वेबसाइट 'स्ट्रैटफोर' में यह टिप्पणी ऐसे समय की है जब प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने रूसी राष्ट्रपति की मौजूदगी में कह दिया कि मुंबई हमले को लेकर भारत के जनमानस में जितना गुस्सा दिख रहा है उतना पहले कभी नहीं दिखा था। अमेरिकी रुझान रखने वाले इन रक्षा विशेषज्ञों की वेबसाइट 'स्ट्रैटफोर' पर दिए गए सैन्य विश्लेषण में कहा गया है कि पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ पूरा युद्ध करने में भारत की दिलचस्पी नहीं दिखती और वह पाकिस्तान की सरकार को खत्म करना भी नहीं चाहता। लेकिन, वह पाकिस्तान को यह जता देना चाहेगा कि वह सैन्य कार्रवाई भी कर सकता है।. अपनी तरफ से 'स्ट्रैटफोर' ने भारत को तीन सैन्य विकल्प भी सुझाए हैं। भारत हवाई हमले करे या नौसेना से नाकेबंदी करे या नियंत्रण रेखा से उस पर हमले करे। 'स्ट्रैटफोर' का कहना है कि मुंबई आतंकवादी हमले के पीछेआईएसआई का हाथ होने के बावजूद पाकिस्तान ने संकेत दिया है कि यह हमले पाकिस्तान सरकार के इशारे पर नहीं हो रहे। भारत चाहता है कि वह पाकिस्तान पर दबाब बनाए, लेकिन अभी तक वह दबाव नहीं बन पाया है। स्ट्रेटफोर के मुताबिक उसे अपनी शक्ति का प्रदर्शन जरूर करना चाहिए।

अब इंतजार है 8 तारीख का जब सामने आएगा प्रत्याशियों की किस्मत का फैसला। एक प्राइवट न्यूज़ चैनल वाइस ऑफ इंडिया द्वारा कराए गए एग्जिट पोल के मुताबिक इस बार कांग्रेस और बीजेपी के बीच कांटे की टक्कर है। दिल्ली, राजस्थान और छत्तीसगढ़ में तो मामला बेहद नजदीकी है। मध्य प्रदेश में जरूर बीजेपी कांग्रेस पर भारी पड़ती दिख रही है। आइए देखते हैं इन चारों राज्यों के बारे में क्या कहते हैं एग्जिट पोल के नतीजे- दिल्ली दिल्ली की 70 विधानसभा सीटों के लिए कराए गए एग्जिट पोल में बीजेपी और कांग्रेस के बीच कांटे की टक्कर है। दोनों को 32 से 38 सीटें मिल सकती हैं। 2003 में 20 सीटों पर ही सिमटी बीजेपी को हालांकि इस बार 6 फीसदी वोटों का फायदा हुआ है, लेकिन वह बहुमत से फिर भी दूर है। 2003 में कांग्रेस को 47 सीटें मिली थीं। अन्य के खाते में 1 से 5 सीटें आ सकती हैं। राजस्थान एग्जिट पोल के मुताबिक 200 विधानसभा सीटों वाले राजस्थान में कांग्रेस के खाते में 102 से 114 सीटें आ सकती हैं। वहीं बीजेपी को 86 से 98 सीटों से ही संतोष करना पड़ सकता है। अन्य को 8 से 18 सीटें मिलने का अनुमान है। सर्वे में बीजेपी और अन्य को 2 फीसदी वोटों का नुकसान बताया गया है। जबकि, कांग्रेस को 4 फीसदी वोटों का फायदा दिखाया गया है। मध्य प्रदेश मध्य प्रदेश से बीजेपी के लिए कुछ राहत की खबर है। 228 विधानसभा सीटों वाले इस राज्य में बीजेपी कांग्रेस पर भारी पड़ती दिख रही है। बीजेपी को 119 से 131 सीटें मिल सकती हैं। 2003 में उसे 171 सीटें मिली थीं। वहीं कांग्रेस के खाते में 78 से 90 सीटें आ सकती हैं। 2003 में 39 सीटें हासिल करने वाली कांग्रेस को 7 फीसदी वोटों का फायदा दिखाया गया है, लेकिन सीएम की कुर्सी उसकी पहुंच से फिर भी काफी दूर है। 2003 में 18 सीटों पर कब्जा करने वाले अन्य दलों को इस बार 15 से 27 सीटें मिल सकती हैं। छत्तीसगढ़ 90 विधानसभा सीटों वाले छत्तीसगढ़ में भी बीजेपी और कांग्रेस के बीच कांटे की टक्कर है। लेकिन बढ़त बीजेपी को दिखाई दे रही है। सर्वे के मुताबिक बीजेपी को 45 से 51 सीटें मिल सकती हैं। उसे 4 फीसदी वोटों का फायदा दिखाया गया है। 2003 में उसके खाते में 50 सीटें आई थीं। कांग्रेस को 39 से 45 सीटें मिलने का अनुमान है। उसे 4 फीसदी वोटों का फायदा होगा। 2003 में उसके खाते में 37 सीटें आई थीं। अन्य को 2 से 6 सीटें मिल सकती हैं।

मुंबईः लगता है कि मुंबई में हुए हमलों से पुलिस ने कुछ सीख ली है। पुलिस की चौकसी की वजह से बुधवार को सीएसटी पर एक बड़ी घटना होने से बच गई। पुलिस ने बुधवार को छत्रपति शिवाजी स्टेशन से बम से भरे दो थैले बरामद किए हैं। इन थैलों में 8 किलो विस्फोटक मिले। खबर मिली कि है सीएसटी स्टेशन पर पुलिस ने विस्फोटक से भरे दो थैले बरामद किए हैं। हर एक थैले में 4-4 किलो विस्फोटक रखे गए थे। मुंबई पुलिस से सक्रियता दिखाते हुए सारे विस्फोटक निष्क्रिय कर दिए।

और रक्षा मंत्री ए के. एंटनी ने बुधवार को तीनों सैन्य प्रमुखों के साथ असाधारण बैठक में हवाई हमले की आशंकाओं पर विस्तार से विचार किया। उन्होंने सैन्य बलों के आपस में तालमेल बढ़ाने की ज़रूरत बताते हुए तीनो सैन्य प्रमुखों को हवाई मार्ग से आतंकी हमलों की आशंका के प्रति सचेत किया। एंटनी ने कहा कि सभी एजंसियों के बीच बेहतर तालमेल बहुत जरूरी है ताकि खुफिया सूचनाओं पर तुरंत कार्रवाई की जा सके़। बैठक के बाद रक्षा मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता ने संवाददाताओं को बताया कि रक्षा मंत्नालय के शीर्ष अधिकारियों और सैन्य प्रमुखों के साथ बैठक में श्री एंटनी ने तटीय सुरक्षा को मजबूत करने और इसके लिए राडार तथा इंटरसेप्टर समेत तमाम उपकरण खरीदने के बारे में बात की। श्री एंटनी ने सैन्य प्रमुखों के साथ नियंत्रण रेखा से होने वाली घुसपैठ रोकने के उपायों पर भी बातचीत की। प्रवक्ता ने कहा कि पाकिस्तान अधिकृत कश्मीर के रास्ते होने वाली घुसपैठ पर विशेष रूप से विचार विमर्श किया गया जो आतंकवादियों को तैयार करने का प्रमुख अड्डा है।

अस्सी के दशक में पंजाब से आतंकवाद का सफाया करने वाले पंजाब के पूर्व डीजीपी केपीएस गिल ने कहा है कि यह शर्म की बात है कि चंद आतंकवादियों से निपटने में सुरक्षाबलों को 60 घंटे से ज्यादा लग गए। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि सुरक्षाबलों की रणनीति कमजोर थी और इस पर ठीक ढंग से अमल भी नहीं किया गया। हालांकि उन्होंने यह स्वीकार किया कि ताज होटल में लोगों की मौजूदगी की वजह से सुरक्षाबलों को अपने काम को अंजाम देने में समय लगा होगा। गिल ने केंद्र सरकार को भी आड़े हाथों लेते हुए कहा कि जब खुफिया एजंसियों को हमले की भनक थी तो जल्द पुख्ता कार्रवाई क्यों नहीं की गई। उन्होंने कहा, 'खुफिया एजंसियों ने जब गृह मंत्रालय को चेताया था तो सूचना मिलते ही पुख्ता इंतजामात किए जाने चाहिए थे। पिछले कुछ अर्से से देश पर लगातार आतंकवादी हमले हो रहे हैं लिहाजा ऐसी लापरवाही नाकाबिले बर्दाश्त है।' गिल ने कहा, मुंबई पर पहले भी हमले हो चुके हैं लिहाजा सुरक्षा व्यवस्था चाक चौबंद होनी चाहिए थी। ताज के बाहर 10 सिपाही भी तैनात होते तो आतंकवादी इतनी आसानी से उसके भीतर दाखिल नहीं हो सकते थे।' इस हमले के बाद राजनेताओं द्वारा की जा रही बयानबाजी से क्षुब्ध इस पूर्व डीजीपी ने कहा, 'राजनीतिक दल सिर्फ अपना स्वार्थ सिद्ध करने में लगे हैं। हर बार आतंकवादी हमले के बाद सख्ती से निपटने के लंबे चौड़े भाषण दिए जाते हैं, लेकिन नतीजा सिफर। ठोस कदम उठाने का बूता दिखाना जरूरी है।' उन्होंने मीडिया और आम जनता को भी आतंकवाद के सफाए के लिए आगे आने को कहा। गिल ने यह भी कहा कि अभी भी उनकी बाजुओं में आतंकवादियों का सामना करने का दम है और अगर उन्हें इस संबंध में कोई जिम्मेदारी सौंपी जाती है तो वह तुरंत स्वीकार कर लेंगे।
पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति आसिफ अली जरदारी ने लश्कर-ए-तैयबा के प्रमुख हाफिज मोहम्मद सईद और अन्य भगौड़ों को सौंपने की भारत की मांग खारिज दी है। उन्होंने गिरफ्तार किए गए आतंकवादी के पाकिस्तानी नागरिक होने पर भी संदेह जताया है। मुंबई हमलों पर कड़ा विरोध जताते हुए नई दिल्ली ने दो दिन पहले ही 20 भगौड़े आतंकवादियों को भारत के सुपुर्द किए जाने की मांग की थी। उन्होंने मंगलवार रात सीएनएन पर कि कहा हमारे पास सबूत होंगे तो हम उन पर अपनी अदालतों में मुकदमा चलाएंगे। हम ही उन्हें सजा देंगे। पाकिस्तान को सौंपी गई भारत के मोस्ट वॉन्टेड 20 अपराधियों की सूची में अपराध जगत के सरगना दाऊद इब्राहिम और जैश-ए-मोहम्मद के प्रमुख मसूद अजहर के नाम शामिल हैं। भारत ने कहा था कि हम पाकिस्तान के जवाब का इंतजार करेंगे। विदेश मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने कहा था कि देश को अपनी एकता की रक्षा करने का अधिकार है और वह कार्रवाई करेगा। पाकिस्तानी राष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि उन्हें भारत के इस दावे पर भी संदेह है कि मुंबई हमलों के दौरान भारतीय सुरक्षा बलों ने जिस बंदूकधारी को पकड़ा, वह पाकिस्तानी है। जरदारी ने कहा ऐसा कोई सबूत नहीं दिया गया है जिससे साबित हो कि वह पाकिस्तानी ही है। जरदारी ने मुंबई हमलों में पाकिस्तान की भूमिका होने से इंकार करते हुए कहा कि आतंकवादियों का किसी देश से कोई सरोकार नहीं होता। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत की आर्थिक राजधानी पर हमले उन लोगों ने किए जो दुनिया को बंधक बनाना चाहते हैं। उन्होंने पाकिस्तान और भारत के बीच युद्ध की किसी संभावना को खारिज करते हुए कहा कि लोकतंत्र युद्ध नहीं करते।
मालेगांव विस्फोट मामले में गिरफ्तार 3 आरोपियों की शनिवार को कलीना फॉरेंसिक विज्ञान प्रयोगशाला में फिर पॉलिग्राफ जांच हुई। पॉलिग्राफ का दूसरा मतलब लाई डिटेक्टर टेस्ट से जुड़ा होता है। इन आरोपियों का शुक्रवार को भी ब्रेन मैपिंग के अलावा लाई डिटेक्टर टेस्ट हुआ था। पुलिस सूत्रों ने कहा कि साध्वी प्रज्ञा सिंह ठाकुर, सैन्य अधिकारी रमेश उपाध्याय और समीर कुलकर्णी को लैब में लाया गया और जांच की गई। सूत्रों ने कहा, 'कुछ आरोपियों की शुक्रवार को भी जांच हुई थी।' सूत्रों ने कहा कि आरोपियों का नार्को विश्लेषण करना अब भी बाकी है। साध्वी व अन्य लोगों से कितने सवाल पूछे गए, एटीएस सूत्रों ने इसका सार्वजनिक खुलासा नहीं किया है, हालांकि टीवी चैनलों पर पूछे गए सवालों की संख्या अलग-अलग बताई गई। किसी ने संख्या 300 बताई, किसी ने 100 तो किसी ने 40 बताई। साध्वी सहित पांच व्यक्तियों को मालेगांव में एक मोटरसाइकल पर बम रखने के मामले में गिरफ्तार किया गया है। मालेगांव विस्फोट में 6 लोग मारे गये थे।

For a majority of Indian Muslims, the terror outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Indian Mujahideen, Harkat-ul-Jehad, Al-Badr, Deccan Mujahideen may be alien but because of these elusive organisations, the community is being seen with suspicion. The series of terror attacks in recent past has definitely left an adverse impact on the psyche of Muslims, particularly the youth who have developed a sense of insecurity. "The frustration among them is leading them to nowhere," said Prof Shamim Ahmad Munami. Mohammad Afzal said he is upset. "My friends have started looking at me with suspicion," said the 22-year-old science student living in one of the private lodges in dingy lanes in Sabzibagh. "Like me several others are being ignored and sidelined for no fault of us. Our friends look at us as if we are responsible for the Mumbai terror," lamented a visibly shaken youth. "Muslims are indeed suffering from fear psychosis due to the misdeeds of a few," said Syed Akbar Ali, a retired professor of psychology. "Terrorists may be Muslim by birth but they are actually radical Muslims who have fully deviated from Islamic ethos. Islam preaches peace and compassion and those indulging in violence are only defaming the religion," he asserted. However, prominent surgeon Dr A A Hai disagreed. "I don't think Muslims are feeling guilty. Some may be feeling shaky while some ashamed but majority of Muslims feel whatever is happening is wrong and they condemn it," he said. "If a person, identified as Muslim, is killing innocents then he cannot be a Muslim," he added. "The entire community cannot be blamed for the misdeeds of a few people nor can terrorism be seen through any religious angle," said Advantage Media managing director Khurshid Ahmad. Tagging violence to religion will be counter-productive, he added. Maulana Anisur Rahman Quasmi of Imarat Shariah was critical of the tendency to link religion with terror. "This is very harmful for the country and it is badly affecting the psyche of youths of all religions," he said. All India Muslim Personal Law Board general secretary Maulana Syed Nizamuddin refused to share the perception that only Muslims are involved in terrorism. "The Mumbai attack was a well planned conspiracy and it cannot be a handiwork of a handful of Muslims. Everything should be seen in totality whether it is the Batla House encounter or Malegaon blasts," the cleric said.

MUMBAI: A PIL has been filed in the aftermath of the terror attacks on Mumbai, seeking action against National Security Advisor M K Narayanan, top politicians and bureaucrats. The petition, filed by Mumbai-based advocate V P Patil, is likely to come up for hearing before the Bombay High Court on December 4. Reflecting the popular sentiment, the petition alleges that top bureaucrats and politicians were "negligent" and "irresponsible" in doing their jobs. Like in the case of 1993 Mumbai riots, an inquiry by senior sitting judge of the High Court should be conducted to look into the lapses of the government machinery, Patil has demanded. Action should be taken against erring bureaucrats and ministers for negligence and acts of omission, the petition says. The PIL seeks a direction to the union government to post National Security Guards "permanently" at Mumbai and other main cities. The Union government should take action against those responsible for delay in sending the NSG to Mumbai, it says. Hitting out specifically at Narayanan, the PIL says that he has been "irresponsible" and the country's security has been in the hands of negligent and incompetent people. There was a gross intelligence failure, it adds. It also seeks a direction to the Defence Ministry to enhance the coastal security.

Nothing could have stopped the gunmen, Ratan Tata, chairman of the Tata Group that owns the hotel, said in an interview to be broadcast on Sunday from Washington. The iconic Taj was one of two luxury hotels taken over by terrorists on Wednesday night. When the 59-hour siege on Mumbai ended on Saturday, at least 183 people were killed at 10 locations and another 239 were wounded. "It's ironic that we did have such a warning and we did have some (security) measures," Tata said in an interview to Fareed Zakaria to be broadcast on a news channel on Sunday. While Tata wouldn't elaborate on the nature of the warning, he said security measures — such as making guests walk through a metal detector and not allowing cars to park in the hotel's portico — were eased shortly before Wednesday night's mayhem. But even if the security detail was in place, it would not have prevented the terrorists from entering the hotel, Tata admitted. "They knew what they were doing, and they did not go through the front. All of our (security) arrangements are in the front," he said. "They planned everything. I believe the first thing they did, they shot a sniffer dog and his handler. They went through the kitchen." The Taj, which opened in 1903, is India's most famous hotel and also one of its most luxurious. Now, its charred interiors are marred by bullet holes and grenade blasts, its corridors soaked in blood. The attacks revealed huge gaps in the city's law enforcement and crisis management. "The infrastructure was woefully poor," Tata said, citing as examples the fact that it took firefighters three hours to get water to the hotel after a fire broke out, and policemen died despite wearing bullet-proof vests. Tata said that government agencies had been "very complacent because we've really not had this kind of terrorism inflicted upon us". But he also commended the people of Mumbai and hoped they would remain united. "Rather than have us succumb to this kind of terror, what it has done is given us a resolve that nobody can do this to us," he said. "We're indignant, but we're not scared." Arms and ammunition brought in by the terrorists was enough to kill around 5,000 people, said police. Cops officially put toll at 162, including 18 foreign nationals. The arrested terrorist, Ajmal Mohammed Amir Kasab, resident of Faridkot village in Pakistani Punjab's Ukada district, told investigators all the terrorists had come from Karachi, police said. They had come in a ship and used a boat to come to the shore, said the police. "Four Indians were already on the boat and the terrorists killed three of them while they used one, Amar Narayan, to handle the boat. When the boat was just three nautical miles away from shore, they slit Narayan's throat and dumped his body in the trawler. They then used their own skill to come to shore." "After landing at Fish Market at Cuffe Parade near Colaba, they formed four groups and hired taxis to reach to their destinations. A group of two young terrorists entered Hotel Oberoi, four into Hotel Taj Mahal, two stormed into Nariman House while the rest entered the CST railway station from its mail trains' gate. NEW DELHI: Terror does leave a calling card. As the enormity of the attack on Mumbai sank in, it seemed like the arrival of al-Qaida in India, a version of 9/11 designed to attract a global audience given the scale of violence and the planned targeting of westerners. With the capture of a terrorist, the actual authors were revealed. It wasn't the al-Qaida. But the jihadi credentials were not much less impressive with Lashkar-e-Taiba named as the suspect. Given the operation's obvious planning, few doubted it was the deadly firm of LeT-ISI in action yet again. Yet the difference between LeT and al-Qaida is not so significant as might have once been the case. In recent years, Lashkar has emerged as not only the single largest pan-Indian terror threat, but also a partner with al-Qaida in jihadi battlegrounds like Iraq, Chechnya and Afghanistan. It has shared training camps and cadre and used al-Qaida-Taliban facilities for a "jihad" against India. It has been proscribed by US and UK who have recognised LeT to be a global terrorist organisation. In UK, it has been allied to the Kashmiri underground, for long recognised as one of the easiest way to get into the jihadi circuit which leads to Pakistan. It poses as a charity and openly seeks donations in Pakistani cities for the "Kashmir cause" and its leader, Prof Hafiz Saeed, is allowed free movement apart from occasional cosmetic spells of house arrest. Before the Markaz-da'wa wal-irshad, the Lashkar's religio-political wing, was banned, its website regularly carried the view of its founder. Saeed's view of LeT's mission was quite unambiguous. He argued that Kashmir was the "gateway" to India, much of which comprised "lost Muslim lands". He saw jihad in Kashmir as a religious duty and fully identified himself with the 9/11 mayhem that Osama bin Laden wreaked. Aligned with the Ahl-e-Hadees sect, Lashkar was founded in 1987 by Saeed, who incidentally was also trained as an engineer like Osama and many other prominent jihadis, and who drew his inspiration from the Egypt-based Muslim Brotherhood — an organisation that saw Palestine as an Islamic cause way back in the 1930's. In collaboration with ISI, Lashkar built up an impressive Kashmir portfolio with recruits chiefly drawn from Pakistani Punjabis, Pashtoons, Bangladeshis, Arabs and south-east Asians. But its vision has never been Kashmir-centric as it bids to re-establish Muslim rule from Morocco to Indonesia and also eyes north Australia as part of its likely domain

The hotels had four-five terrorists, each carrying haversacks, leading commandos to admit that the terrorists together had enough firepower to remain holed up for days together if they were not gunned down. The bag the terrorists left behind also contained seven credit cards and a Mauritian identity card, all apparently belonging to one person. The bag had Rs 6,840 and $1,200 (about Rs 60,000). ``The terrorists were well-informed about the layout of both the Taj Mahal Palace and the Oberoi Trident. It's absolutely certain that these men had done a survey of the hotel interiors before the strike on Wednesday night,'' the Marcos' commandant said. The terrorists even knew which room had the closed-circuit television cameras, which would give them a clear view of the alleys and lobbies of the entire Taj, and reached and captured the room before the commandos did. ``The terrorists hurled grenades the moment commandos neared the CCTV room and it could not be accessed because of the smoke and fire that followed,'' he said. The Marcos found operating in the dark difficult despite their vast experience but the terrorists quite comfortably ran between the Taj's new and heritage wing, engaging the Marcos in tackle-and-dodge combat commonly seen in the Kashmir valley, officials said. But what the terrorists lacked was any remorse or compunction, the commandos said, referring to the spraying of bullets on hotel guests. मुंबई के कई इलाकों में छोटे-छोटे ग्रुपों में आतंकवादियों ने गोलियां और बम बरसाने शुरू कर दिए। छत्रपति शिवाजी स्टेशन, ताज और ओबरॉय होटेल, मेट्रो सिनेमा, डॉक, विले पार्ले समेत कई के कई इलाकों में एक ही समय पर हुई सीरियल गोलीबारी और विस्फोटों से पूरी मुंबई में अफरातफरी का माहौल है। इस हमले में अभी तक 100 लोग मारे गए हैं और सैकड़ों घायल हुए हैं। डेकन मुजाहिदीन ने इस हमले की जिम्मेदारी ली है। ताजा खबर हैः नरीमन हाउस से सेना ने बंधकों को छुड़ा लिया है। यहां आतंकवादियों ने पांच परिवारों को बंधक बना लिया था। ओबरॉय होटेल में अभी भी फायरिंग हो रही है। इस बीच खबर है कि ताज होटेल और गिरगांव में सेना ने 2-2 आतंकियों को मार गिराया है। अभी भी आतंकवादियों ने होटेल ताज, होटल ट्रिडंट और कामा अस्पताल में कई लोगों को बंधक बना रखा है। ताज होटेल में अभी भी 3-4 आतंकवादी होने की खबर है। काम अस्पताल के बारे में अभी तक स्थिति साफ नहीं हो पाई है। सेना ने रेस्क्यू ऑपरेशन अपने हाथ में ले लिया है। चश्मदीद लोगों के मुताबिक आतंकवादी विदेशी नागरिकों को निशाना बना रहे हैं। कुछ आतंकवादी चिल्ला-चिल्लाकर कह रहे थे कि किस-किस के पास ब्रिटिश और अमेरिकी पासपोर्ट है। इस बीच एनएसजी के करीब 200 कमांडो मुंबई पहुंच चुके हैं और जल्दी ही ओबरॉय होटेल में चल रही मुठभेड़ की कमान संभाल लेंगे। ओबरॉय होटेल में करीब 40 लोगों के बंधक होने की खबरें आ रही हैं। यहां अभी भी कुछ आतंकवादी मौजूद हैं। हालांकि इनकी तादाद का पता नहीं चल पाया है। ताज होटेल में सेना के एन्काउंटर ऑपरेशन में 2 आतंकवादियों को मार गिराया गया है। 9 संदिग्ध आतंकियों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया है और 3 आतंकवादी भागने में कामयाब रहे हैं। ताज होटेल में ज़बर्दस्त आग लगने की खबर है। होटल में आतंकियों ने 7 ग्रेनेड फेंके हैं। इनमें से दो ग्रेनेड्स ने होटेल के गुंबदों को खासा नुकसान पहुंचाया है। सेना इस वक्त होटेल के अंदर है। यहां से अभी भी गोलीबारी की आवाज आ रही है। इससे पहले मुंबई रेलवे के पुलिस कमिश्नर ए. के. शर्मा ने बताया कि एके 47 राइफल और ग्रेनेड से लैस कुछ आतंकवादी भीड़भाड़ वाले छत्रपति शिवाजी टर्मिनस रेलवे स्टेशन के पैसिंजर हॉल में घुस गए और उन्होंने गोलीबारी शुरू कर दी। आतंकवादियों ने 2 हथगोले फेंके जिसमें 2 लोगों की मौत हो गई। फाइव स्टार होटेल ओबरॉय और ताज होटेल में आतंकवादियों ने कब्जा कर लिया और कई धमाके किए। ओबरॉय में दो आतंकवादियों के छिपे होने की पुष्टि हो चुकी है, जो भारी तादाद में गोलाबारूद से लैस हैं और लगातार हमले कर रहे हैं। इसी तरह ताज होटेल में भी आतंकवादी फायरिंग में तीन लोगों की मौत हो गई है। ताज होटेल से पुलिस ने 100 लोगों को छुड़ा लिया है। इस होटल में 7 विदेशी नागरिक भी बंधक बनाए गए थे। ताज होटेल में आग लगी है। ट्राइडंट होटेल में 40 लोगों के बंधक बनाए जाने की खबर है। पुलिस के मुताबिक आतंकवादियों की 16 टीमों ने सुनियोजित ढंग से किए हमले किए है। मशीनगनों और हैंड ग्रेनेडों का इस्तेमाल किया गया है। पहला हमला बुधवार रात 9:40 बजे कोलाबा में हुआ। कई जगह पुलिस पर भी फायरिंग की गई। आतंकवादियों ने 16 जगहों पर मशीनगनों और हैंड ग्रेनेडों से हमले किए। कई जगह धमाकों की आवाजें भी सुनी गईं। जे. जे. स्कूल ऑफ आर्ट्स में भी फायरिंग हुई है। कोलाबा के डॉकयार्ड में एक बोट मिली है जिसके बारे में अनुमान लगाया जा रहा है कि आतंकवादियों ने इसका इस्तेमाल किया है। वाडी बंदर इलाके में एक टैक्सी में जबर्दस्त ब्लास्ट हुआ। ये ब्लास्ट बंबई म्युनिसिपल कॉरपोरेशन (बीएमसी) के मुख्यालय और छत्रपति शिवाजी टमिर्नल के बाहर भी हुए। मुंबई पुलिस ने सीएसटी रेलवे स्टेशन के आसपास घेराबंदी कर दी है। वीटी स्टेशन से जाने वाली ट्रेनों को रोक दिया गया है। वीटी स्टेशन के बाहर फायरिंग जारी है। एक जगह पुलिस वैन पर भी ग्रेनेड से हमला किया गया। मुंबई के सबसे पॉपुलर इलाके नरीमन पॉइंट में दो ब्लास्ट हुए हैं।

( Watch ) Pandey was allegedly in the habit of using his laptop, seized when he was arrested in Kanpur on November 14, to film and record meetings with people including fellow conspirators whom he met prior to the Malegaon blast. The religious leader used the laptop to record conversations and also video recorded many of the meetings he held with other conspirators, the sources alleged. The recordings are expected to provide valuable evidence to the ATS regarding the role of other accused and Pandey in carrying out the blast. Pandey is among the eleven persons arrested for their alleged involvement in the Malegaon blast in which six persons were killed and over 80 wounded. The laptop also contained a lot of right wing literature and documents which could be used to prove the accused had plans to commit more terror acts in the country, sources said. Visitors to the self-styled religious leader were also filmed or photographed by Pandey when they visited him, the sources said, adding that the final report from the Forensic Science Laboratory was still awaited. The ATS had earlier alleged that Pandey was among the main conspirators to carry out the blast and was the link between arrested Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, army official Prasad Purohit and wanted accused in the Malegaon case, Ramji Kalsangra. All eleven accused have been booked under sections of the stringent MCOCA for allegedly forming an organised crime syndicate which carried out the Malegaon blast. Nine of the other accused in the case are presently in judicial custody till December 3 after the MCOCA court on Monday had rejected the plea by the ATS to obtain police custody of the Sadhvi, Purohit and member of the right wing group Abhinav Bharat, Ajay Rahirkar. The ATS had said they wanted to question the trio further in connection with other arrests made in the case like Abhinav Bharat member Sudhakar Chaturvedi. Chaturvedi was caught in the city and a fake army identity card and a country made revolver, which were allegedly provided by Purohit, were recovered from him. ी ध्रुवीकरण के लिए कमर कस चुका है। इस काम में सबसे अहम साबित हो रहा है साध्वी का वह हलफनामा जो उन्होंने अपने वकील के जरिए नासिक कोर्ट में 17 नवंबर को पेश किया था। गौरतलब है कि इसी हलफनामे को पढ़ने के बाद बीजेपी के पीएम इन वेटिंग लालकृष्ण आडवाणी ने एटीएस टीम बदले जाने और निष्पक्ष जुडिशल इन्क्वायरी की मांग की थी। बीजेपी ने साध्वी के हलफनामे को अपनी वेबसाइट www.bjp.org पर भी पोस्ट कर दिया है। संघ की विचारधारा और योजना के तहत काम कर रहे कई संगठन भी इसे प्रसारित कर रहे हैं। हलफनामे को इन संगठनों द्वारा मुस्लिम तुष्टीकरण के विरोध में तैयार की जा रही प्रचार सामग्री में इस्तेमाल किए जाने की भी तैयारी है। विदेश में काम कर रहे कई रिसर्च स्कॉलरों और संघ परिवार समर्थकों को भी हलफनामा भेजा गया है। मकसद है सरकार पर हिंदुओं के उत्पीड़न और हिंदू आतंकवाद का छद्म हौवा खड़ा करने का आरोप लगाना। हलफनामे में साध्वी ने एटीएस पर रात-दिन मारपीट करने, चरित्र पर उंगली उठाने और 12 दिन तक गैरकानूनी रूप से हिरासत में रखने के आरोप लगाए हैं। उधर एक न्यूज चैनल ने सूत्रों के हवाले से दावा किया है कि पूछताछ के दौरान दबाव बनाने के लिए पुलिस ने साध्वी को अश्लील सीडी सुनाई और उन्हें निर्वस्त्र करने की भी धमकी दी। शुरू में बीजेपी प्रेजिडेंट राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा था कि मैं साध्वी से व्यक्तिगत रूप से परिचित नहीं हूं। किसी सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रम में मिला था। बाद में पार्टी के सुर बदल गए। सिंह ने कहा कि साधु संतों और सेना का अपमान नहीं बर्दाश्त किया जाएगा। आडवाणी ने और भी कड़े तेवर अपनाए। एनडीए शासनकाल के दौरान हिंदूवादी संगठनों से प्रत्यक्ष दौर पर दूरी बनाए रखने वाली बीजेपी ने पानीपत में विश्वहिंदू परिषद के बैनर तले हुए संत समागम में शिरकत की और आंदोलन को आगे बढ़ाने के पक्ष में रुख दिखाया। इसी का नतीजा है कि ईमेल और दूसरी प्रचारात्मक सामग्री के जरिए साध्वी मसले को ज्यादा से ज्यादा लोगों तक पहुंचाया जा रहा है। कई ब्लॉग्स पर भी साध्वी का हलफनामा पोस्ट किया गया है। इसमें उनके साथ मारपीट और अश्लील व्यवहार को खास तौर पर हाईलाइट किया गया है। इसी टोन का एक एसएमएस, 'वाह इंडिया वाह, अफजल को माफी, साध्वी का फांसी, आरएसएस पर प्रतिबंध और सिमी के साथ अनुबंध अमरनाथ यात्रा पर लगान और हज के लिए अनुदान, जागो हिंदू जागो' भी सर्कुलेशन में है। इस तरह की प्रचार सामग्री में प्राथमिक स्त्रोत को तलाशना मुमकिन नहीं है। ऐसे में बड़ी आसानी से राजनैतिक जवाबदेही से भी बचा जा सकता है। बीजेपी के राष्ट्रीय प्रवक्ता प्रकाश जावड़ेकर ने इस मसले पर पहले तो कहा कि हलफनामा पब्लिक प्रॉपर्टी है। यह पूछे जाने पर कि किसी आरोपी का हलफनामा राजनीतिक संगठन के वेबसाइट पर पोस्ट करने का क्या मकसद हो सकता है, उन्होंने व्यस्तता का हवाला देकर फोन काट दिया।

The ATS sought the custody of the trio contending their interrogation was needed to find out the "sinister design of Hindu radical group Abhinav Bharat, which appears to be instrumental in promoting, advocating and inciting unlawful and terrorist activities". However, Special MCOCA Judge Y D Shinde rejected the ATS plea and instead sent them as also four other accused in judicial custody till December 3. All the seven accused who were produced before the court claimed that they were physically and mentally tortured by ATS in custody. Clad in a saffron outfit with vermilion on her forehead, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur told the court that she has been mentally and physically harassed by ATS. "ATS officials threatened to strip me and hang me upside down if I did not confess about my involvement in the blast. I am mentally disturbed and not able to eat anything," Sadhvi told the judge. Purohit said he had been hung upside down from a rod and his hands were tied to two poles due to which he has lost sensation from his wrist to his fingers. "ATS while questioning me said that it would plant RDX in my house and that it would be very easy for it to kill me in an encounter," Purohit told the court
